Alvar Aalto, one of the key figures of midcentury architecture, was known for his humanistic approach to Modernism. Aalto only designed two buildings in the US, one being the Mt Angel Abbey Library in Oregon.
Portland’s Third Angle New Music ensemble designed an interactive musical experience around Aalto’s architecture to create an immersive performance that would turn the entire building into an instrument.
